When History Speaks Through the Body

Living in Germany has given me a daily view into what historical memory looks like when it is taken seriously. When the people around me, shaped by a culture that openly teaches the consequences of authoritarian rule, express alarm about political patterns unfolding in the United States, I listen. Through the lenses of psychology and integrative therapy, I see how denial protects identity, how fear bonds communities, and how collective stress embeds itself in the body. History leaves clues. The question is whether we are willing to recognize them before repetition becomes reality.

It Takes as Long As It Takes…

Life is a tapestry woven from countless moments—each thread representing a phase, a story, a lesson. It Takes As Long As It Takes is not just a tagline; it’s the recognition that every part of our journey, whether joyful or painful, is essential to the person we become.

In this photo gallery, I invite you to walk with me through the snapshots of my life: from the trauma of my early childhood to the resilience that emerged after facing cancer, from the tender moments of motherhood to the freedom of travel and exploration. Each image captures a moment, a role I’ve played, and a challenge I’ve overcome, but more than that, they show the beauty of growth and transformation.

As you reflect on your own life’s journey, I encourage you to think about your own chapters—the highs and lows, the times of loss and the moments of triumph. Together, let’s celebrate the richness of our stories, knowing that each phase, each experience, takes exactly as long as it’s meant to.

NOVEMBER, DREADED NOVEMBER

It’s the time of year when daylight dwindles and the chill in the air cuts through the warmth we’ve grown used to. As the days grow shorter, there’s a quiet sadness that settles in. The holidays seem far away, yet the pressure to prepare for them looms. It’s a month of transition, where the past year feels both distant and immediate, and we find ourselves on the edge of something new, unsure if we’re ready to embrace it or not. But even in this quiet discomfort, there is an invitation to pause and reflect, to notice what November asks of us—both in the world and in our hearts.
